The Women’s National Volleyball Team (Las Reinas del Caribe) defeated Korea three sets to zero this Thursday (25-18, 25-18 and 25-16), in the continuation of the League of Nations.
It is the fourth victory that the Dominicans have achieved in the women’s volleyball World Cup. On their record they have six defeats.
This Friday, the Caribbean will face the Chinese team, number five in the FIVB world ranking.
The Dominicans’ attack was led by Gaila González who scored 17 points, followed by Jineirys Martínez, who had a great game attacking in the middle, Yonkaira Peña contributed 13 points and Vielka Peralta had eight.
In the lost cause, Jeong Jiyun with 10 points, Kim Daerun with eight, Kang Showi with six.
The winners showed all their superiority against their rivals, from Korea, which occupies the 34th place in the world ranking, both in the defensive and offensive field.
The three sets were completely dominated by the Pan American champions, thanks to a strong combined attack by Gaila González, Yonkaira Peña, and Jineirys Martínez.
In the attack, the Dominicans achieved 48, while Korea a 29, in blocking it was 10-3, in favor of the Dominicans and in serves 5-3.
The Korean girls had difficulties with the reception and to articulate the offense.
