The Premier League club that wants to sign Jules Koundé

Manchester United have shown strong interest in defender Jules Koundé and recent reports suggest Barcelona have changed their stance on the player, opening up the possibility of a sale. United have struggled with their defensive line this season, prompting consideration of a major overhaul in that area under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Koundé, who joined Barcelona in 2022 and played a leading role in winning the LaLiga title last season, has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford. However, reports from Spain suggest his future at Camp Nou could be in doubt due to concerns over his recent form.

Koundé, on the rope

Although coach Xavi continues to trust Koundé, recent mistakes in key games have caused concern at the club. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the player is no longer considered untouchable and Barcelona could be willing to listen to offers for him, as well as former Chelsea player Andreas Christensen.

Sport’s report also mentions that Barcelona could consider offers for Koundé, although no transfer fee was mentioned. It should be noted that the Catalan club paid 50 million euros for the player in 2022.

Other potential players who could be on Manchester United’s radar alongside Koundé include Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Everton’s Jarrad Brathwaite, Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Benfica’s Antonio Silva. Given the need to strengthen their defense, United could consider these options to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
