The Premier club that wants Ramsdale on loan

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ sights for the January transfer window as the club are interested in a loan deal with an option to buy for the English goalkeeper.

Despite initial criticism following his arrival in 2021, Ramsdale has gained the trust of Arsenal fans and is a key figure in their recent success. However, competition in goal has increased this summer with the arrival of David Raya, threatening Ramsdale’s status as the undisputed starter.

Raya has emerged as Mikel Arteta’s first choice in recent weeks, relegating Ramsdale to the bench in several games. Despite keeping two clean sheets recently, Ramsdale is rumored to be considering leaving due to a lack of playing time.

Wolves, who could lose José Sá in January, are interested in recruiting Ramsdale as his successor. Sá is expected to join the Saudi Pro League and the English club sees Ramsdale as the ideal candidate for his place.

Gary O’Neil, the Wolves head coach, is willing to part ways with Sá provided the asking price is met, and Ramsdale is seen as the key target to bolster the team’s goalkeeping performance.

Wolves are reportedly targeting an initial loan deal with Arsenal, with the intention of making the transfer permanent in the summer window. They are confident that the offer of playing opportunities and a return home from Ramsdale could convince the 25-year-old goalkeeper to accept the move.

Ramsdale, who kept 32 clean sheets in 86 games for Arsenal, is under contract until 2026 with an option to extend by 12 months. Both Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in the England international for 2024. Ramsdale’s decision about his future could have a significant impact on Arsenal and Wolves’ goalkeeping dynamic.
