Pope Francis today asked young people "that they use well and responsibly" their holidays in a message on the occasion of the first World Youth Tourism Summit, held in Sorrento (southern Italy).
"For those who are still students, tourism coincides with school vacations and the experiences that you can live during this time will remain in your memory"the pope told the young people in a video message.
Francisco praised that, in addition to recreation and rest, some young people "take advantage of this time to offer help in solidarity initiatives; others do small jobs to help their families or to support themselves or further their studies and others reserve days of silence and prayer to be with God".
"In any case, I encourage you to use the time you have well and responsibly at your disposal. And that it serves to grow and prepare to take on more demanding tasks"he urged them.
And wished the boys and girls "be messengers of hope and rebirth for the future".
The first World Tourism Youth Summit of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) brings together more than 130 young people from 60 countries between the ages of 12 and 18, leaders from across the sector, including politicians and key figures from around the world sports, gastronomy, entertainment and innovation.
This event, the first of its kind, is organized by UNWTO and is held in Italy in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the National Tourism Agency (ENIT).
