The Pope asks for confidence in women: “they are often underestimated in their productive value”

Pope Francis asked today to give "full confidence to the woman" that "their productive value is often underestimated”, during the audience of some 10,000 faithful who came to Saint Peter’s Square to give thanks for the beatification of Armida Barelli, co-founder of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.

Francis praised the figure of Barelli, who was also a leader of the movement "Catholic Action" and what, he said, " It was a "formidable forerunner of female leadership in the ecclesial and social spheres".

And in this regard, he pointed out that today there is "the need for an integrated model that combines competence and performance, often associated with the masculine role, with the care of ties, listening, the ability to mediate, to work in a network and to make relationships grow, by far time considered the prerogative of the female gender and often underestimated in its productive value”.

And he also advocated "the necessary integration and reciprocity of differences".

"Also today we need women who, guided by faith, are capable of leaving their mark in the spiritual life, in education and in professional training."he added.

On the other hand, he invited the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart "to have today the same educational impetus and the same formative initiative that guided Father Agostino Gemelli and Blessed Armida Barelli"who precisely "through the university they helped to form the civic conscience in hundreds of thousands of young people, including many women”.
