The Polish Daria Pikulik is the first leader of the Women’s Tour Down Under after winning the first stage of the test in the sprint with a time of 3h.03.01. After Pikulik, the French Clara Copponi and the Australian Georgia Baxter entered the finish line. The first thirty of the stage did so with the same time as the winner.
This first stage between the towns of Glenelg and Aldinga consisted of 110 completely flat kilometers that, as planned, was resolved in a massive sprint. The Polish cyclist is the first leader of the three-day event and thanks to bonuses, she has a 4-second advantage over Copponi and 6 over Baker.
This Monday the second stage will be held between Birdwood and Uraidla with a minimum climb of 6.1 kilometers to Mount Lofty with an average slope of 3.2 percent that will give some options for the attacks of the strongest runners.
