“Currently, everything suggests that this man was the target of this execution,” Petra Stenkula, Malmö’s police chief, told a press conference. The man who died in the shooting at a shopping mall in southern Sweden on Friday was believed to have been the target of the attack, city police said on Saturday.
One person was also injured in the shooting, which occurred late Friday afternoon. It is a woman, hospitalized in a serious condition and who would be a simple passerby according to the police.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Friday on suspicion of the shooting. The police consider the attack as “an isolated incident linked to criminal circles” and exclude terrorist motivation, a spokeswoman for the Malmö police told AFP at the time. A few weeks before the elections in Sweden, crime has become one of the leading subjects in the national debate.
