The Panthers debut against China in the Volleyball World Cup

The Argentine women’s volleyball team will debut this Sunday at the 2022 Netherlands-Poland World Cup when they face China in the city of Arnhem, 90 kilometers from Amsterdam. The match, broadcast by ESPN and the Star+ platform, will begin at 9:00 in Argentina and will correspond to the first date of Group D, which is also made up of Brazil -Olympic runner-up-, Japan, Colombia and the Czech Republic.

The Panthers assume the competition with the objective of reaching the round of 16, for which they must be among the first four teams in their zone. This edition will be the seventh World Cup in the history of the Argentine women’s team, whose best position is eighth in Brazil 1960, a tournament played by 10 countries.

Those directed by Hernán Ferraro come from playing an international preparation competition in which they registered three victories (Canada 3-2 and 3-2 and France 3-1) and three defeats (Japan 0-3, Colombia 0-3 and Belgium 1 -3). The schedule of matches for Las Panteras in the World Cup will continue as follows: Brazil (Monday 24, 1:30 p.m.); Czech Republic (Wednesday 28, 1:00 p.m.); Colombia (Friday 30, 1:00 p.m.) and Japan (Sunday, October 2, 9:15 a.m.).

The Argentine squad for the competition is made up of Victoria Mayer and Sabrina Germanier (setter); Erika Mercado and Bianca Cugno (opposite); Emilce Sosa, Bianca Farriol, Candelaria Herrera and Brenda Graff (central); Yamila Nizetich, Daniela Bulaich, Candela Salinas and Lucía Verdier (tip receivers) and Tatiana Rizzo and Agostina Pelozo (swingers).
