Emiliano Martínez (7). Impeccable in each of the opportunities he had to intervene, especially a cross shot in the first half, a heads up and a touch from close in the second. Again with the security that is already becoming a characteristic in the centers. Attentive to function as a libero, he cut a dangerous advance with his head, to round off a good performance.
Nahuel Molina (5). They beat his back a couple of times in the second period, in the team’s weakest moments. It hints a lot when it goes on the attack, but this time it went up very little, because in the first half, above all, the team turned the entire game on the left.
Cristian Romero (7). The firmer at the bottom. Well from above, effective at crossings. In the initial period it was a clear departure from the bottom, looking for Lo Celso or Paredes at ground level. In one of the offensive forays he was close to finishing with a header.
Nicolás Otamendi (5). He did not make serious mistakes, although he sometimes went far out of time, or arrived a second late in one of the deep arrivals of the Paraguayans. He created an unnecessary commotion in the end in a corner, staying a couple of minutes on the floor, claiming a foul that had not existed.
Marcos Acuña (4). He came with just enough for an injury. He ran a lot in the first half going to search the side, but could not finish any well. And in one of those attacks he put a deficient center back, propitiating a counterattack that the rivals could not capitalize on. The best of his was a couple of passes to Correa down the line. He was injured ten minutes into the second half.
Rodrigo De Paul (5). Disorderly, jumbled, he lost many balls in the first half, under pressure from the Paraguayans. Before he was replaced, he raised his performance a bit with a shot from medium distance, which caused a good save from Silva.
Leandro Paredes (5). Irregular, like most of the team. Better at the start of the two halves providing neatness in the associations at ground level. He recovered a couple of difficult balls as Paraguay threatened to take the team ahead. He had no chance to assert his long-range shot.
Giovanni Lo Celso (6). Some luxuriously lowered ball, a few distinctive brush strokes, and the feeling that a goal-scoring stiletto could come from his feet at any moment, but he missed on the last touch. The good intentions of meeting with Messi only occurred sporadically.
Angel Di Maria (5). Dumped in almost the entire first half on the right, he did not receive much game and went to look for the other side, but without regret as other times. In the second half he stayed on the left, and there he hinted a little more until Scaloni decided to replace him.
Lionel Messi (6). Far from his best level, but turning the team on his baton in the best moments. He started from far behind, he put in a couple of deep passes of those that usually solve the games but they hit him a lot, he got tired and went away little by little. In a very well positioned free kick, one of those that make opposing goalkeepers tremble, he hit very badly.
Joaquin Correa (5). Restless, moving, he handled himself on the sides and was highly sought after by Messi, Di María and Lo Celso. He had three very clear opportunities to convert, but could not take advantage of them, a little because he collided with the goalkeeper or the Paraguayan defenders, and another little because he delayed the definition. His performance made Lautaro Martínez miss.
Nicolás Tagliafico (5). Without too many problems in the brand, he went on the attack a couple of times but very isolated, with more will than play.
Alejandro Gomez (6). He replaced De Paul, at the time when the team was lost in the nebula. The best he offered was a mid-distance shot in a chaff, which was saved by the Paraguayan goalkeeper with a spectacular fly.
Guido Rodríguez (5). It did not contribute much, beyond a couple of deductions.
Julian Alvarez. He played for a short time.
Nicolás González. The same as Alvarez.
