The offer of 45 million to bring Jan Oblak from Atlético de Madrid

Manchester United are taking decisive steps in their quest to strengthen their goalkeeper and are reportedly eyeing Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak. The Red Devils, aware of André Onana’s challenges, would seriously consider replacing the Cameroonian goalkeeper who was signed last summer.

Onana, who arrived from Inter Milan as a replacement for David de Gea, struggled to adapt, conceding 47 goals in 30 appearances and keeping just nine clean sheets. Although he has a contract until 2028, rumors about his future at Old Trafford persist.

Oblak, United’s new wish

In this context, there is the possibility of Jan Oblak, the experienced Slovenian goalkeeper of Atlético de Madrid. According to TodoFichajes, Manchester United are preparing a €45 million offer for Oblak, who has long attracted interest from the Red Devils.

The 31-year-old Oblak has been a pillar of Atlético since his arrival in 2014. Last season he made 422 appearances and kept ten clean sheets. Although he has a contract until 2028, Atlético would be willing to let him go if there was a suitable offer in the next transfer market.

This potential acquisition complements Manchester United’s renewal plans for next season. As well as strengthening the goalkeeper, the club is targeting a new centre-back, central midfielder and centre-forward as part of the rebuild under minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Rebuilding the team is a priority for the Red Devils, who are looking to improve their squad ahead of the 2024-25 season.
