The NN San Silvestre Vallecana returns to its face-to-face format

The Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana will return in 2021 in its face-to-face format on December 31 with a maximum capacity of 40,000 runners, after the previous edition took place virtually, with more than 37,000 participants, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vallecana It will once again roll on its traditional circuit, starting in the streets of Madrid and ending in Vallecas, as it did in recent years. This Wednesday the first numbers for the race have been put on sale, destined in a preferential period to those runners who participated in the virtual race of 2020. Next Wednesday, November 3, registrations will open for the rest of the participants of the popular race , while the international race will open registration on November 10.

Given the new measures adopted by the health authorities, the race will have a capacity similar to the one it had in 2019: 40,000 people in the popular test and 2,000 in the international one. The organization will take special care to maintain a minimum of health security: instead of four exit waves, as was traditional, there will be five, each separated by 30 minutes, which will be accessed by different streets to maintain the separation between people.

What’s more, In order to reach all parts of the world, the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana will maintain its virtual format. When registering, the runner will have access to the face-to-face race and also to the virtual one, which will be carried out with the same application as in 2020.

With a single registration, the runner can choose if he wants to run the face-to-face, the virtual or both tests. Likewise, the catalog of experiences, trainings, events and challenges held throughout the month of December will be kept from the last edition. Another novelty is the entry of a new sponsor: Oysho. The Inditex group brand, which already sponsors other sports events such as the Women’s Race or the Formentera Half Marathon, will contribute its knowledge within the world of textiles.

The Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana has recently been declared by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Madrid City Council as a sports activity of special citizen significance and general interest for the capital..
