The National Youth Orchestra, from Carnegie Hall, will visit the Dominican Republic

The Sinfonía Foundation presented the different projects to be developed, among which the visit of the National Youth Orchestra (NYO2) to the emblematic Carnegie Hall stands out, which covers both artistic and educational aspects.

During a meeting held at the Rodríguez Copello residence, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Winners Gala, the training workshops for young singers, the ProPiano Competition, the Santo Domingo Music Festival, the Caribbean Lyric Festival and the Royal Opera RD Alliance, among others.

“The visit of the NYO2 is a project that includes three concerts, one in Santo Domingo on Monday, July 17 in the Main Hall of the National Theater at 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 18 in Santiago at the Gran Teatro del Cibao at 6:30 in the afternoon and on Wednesday, July 19, at Juan Dolio at the Club Hemingway”, informed Margarita Miranda de Mitrov, president of the foundation.

In addition, various educational exchanges will take place “with young musicians in our country, such as the Side-by-Side rehearsal with students from the Conservatory of Music and Festiband, who will join the Orchestra to perform a special repertoire; and in Santiago, the exchange meeting with the youth of the Philharmonic of Ciudad Santa María”.

Throughout its 36 years, the scope of the Sinfonía Foundation as an organization, always highlighting the values ​​of excellence, passion for music and inclusion, combining two aspects at all times, the artistic and the educational, through initiatives of high interest for the general public focused on the production of massive artistic events, diverse educational projects and granting of scholarships to music students in educational institutions.

The activity with the press and guests was led by members of the board of directors, including Enrique Valdez, Mari Pili Díaz, Sonia Villanueva, Marua Kury de Bonetti, Wendy Pérez de Marchena, Nélsida de Giacinti, María Sanz de Núñez, Vera Peralta, Marianela Pina and Jacqueline Perez.

About NYO2: Leading young American instrumentalists form NYO2, a free orchestra program that meets with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and NYO Jazz each summer to provide intensive training and performance opportunities. Participating musicians, ranging in age from 14 to 17, have the opportunity to work closely with top musicians from American orchestras and conservatories during a residency at Purchase College of the State University of New York.

In the summer of 2023, Joseph Young leads the ensemble in the Dominican Republic with guest soloist Jennifer Koh.

Sinfonía was founded in 1986 by Pedro Rodríguez Villacañas and Margarita Copello de Rodríguez, with the purpose of rescuing the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic with the purpose of rescuing the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic.
