The National Team remembered its greatest idol

The Argentine soccer team published this Thursday on its Twitter account a message in memory of Diego Armando Maradona, its historic emblem, world champion in Mexico ’86.

“He watered this soil with glory … and our sky forever. One year after your passage to immortality. We will never forget you,” says the message accompanied by the hashtag #DiegoEterno and an image of the star in his golden age with the “Albiceleste”.

Maradona was world youth champion in Japan 1979, winner of the title in Mexico ’86 with a legendary performance and runner-up four years later in Italy ’90. He also played the World Cups Spain ’82 (eliminated in the second phase) and United States ’94 (round of 16).

The star died exactly 365 days ago at the age of 60 due to heart failure, on November 25, 2020, past noon, in the private neighborhood of San Andrés in the Buenos Aires town of Tigre.
