The names of Mohammed Shami, Maxwell and Travis Head were also included in the ICC Player of the Month nominations.

ICC has nominated the names of three players for Player of the Month, two of whom are from Australia and one from India. Australians Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head’s names are included in this ICC nominations list while Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has also been included in this list.

Travis Head was not fully fit before the World Cup, returning from a long injury, but was still included in the World Cup squad. After almost halfway through the World Cup, Travis Head made a comeback and went on to score a total of 329 runs in 6 games at an average of 54.83 and a strike rate of 127.51. During this time he played two innings of a century and a half century. His two most extraordinary performances came in the semi-final and final of the World Cup, for which he also received the Player of the Match award in both games.

The name of the second Australian player in this list is Glenn Maxwell, who played an important role in making Australia world champions in this World Cup. Maxwell has scored 400 runs in 9 World Cup matches at an average of 66.66 and a strike rate of 150.37. During this time he played century innings twice. Maxwell also played an unbeaten innings of 201 runs against Afghanistan, leading Australia to victory even in the losing game. This innings from Maxwell was a once in a lifetime century.

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s name is also included in this ICC list. Mohammed Shami made his World Cup debut quite late but still finished the World Cup with the most wickets. Shami played a total of 7 matches in this World Cup and took a total of 24 wickets with an excellent average of just 10.70 and an economy rate of 5.26. During this period, Shami took a 5-wicket haul three times and a 4-wicket haul once.
