According to an international website, the world’s most powerful turbine, which generates electricity from tidal waves, has started producing. The beautifully designed turbine weighs 680 tons and will power 2,000 homes over the next 15 years.
Located off the coast of Scotland, this tidal turbine has been dubbed Orbital O2, which has been under investigation for ten years and took 18 months to fully prepare and install.
Due to its unusual structure, it generates two megawatts of electricity, which was released into the sea in May and is now powered by electricity from a turbine after the installation of an underwater cable.
The movement of the waves makes its internal system rise and fall and generates electricity acting like a turbine.
When the waves subside, its petals begin to rotate and generate electricity, and this is obviously only possible thanks to the strong winds from the sea. It was designed by a company called Orbital O2.
According to the company, this is a very encouraging project to generate green electricity that could benefit the whole world, since 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by the sea.
It can also be called a type of underwater turbine that operates under the swell of sea waves, iron chains have been installed in four places to drive it.
