Last Sunday, August 24, 2025, the Esports World Cup (EWC) wrapped up its exciting schedule with the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) championship. Two strong teams, The MongolZ and Aurora, went head-to-head. They battled in a best-of-five series. This final match would finally crown a Tier S champion.
Neither team had ever won a top-level CS2 event before. The stage was set for a major showdown. Fate put them right against each other to decide the EWC final. The Mongolian team, The MongolZ, delivered a truly dominant performance. They swept the series.
The MongolZ secured a convincing 3-0 victory. This win brought smiles to their faces after a tough loss earlier this year. They had come so close at the BLAST Austin Major, only to fall to Vitality. Now, they finally claimed their organization’s first Tier S title in Valve’s popular first-person shooter.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE ESPORTS WORLD CUP 2025!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the families of our players. You raised these kind and healthy young boys. Today, they are coming home to you with the EWC trophy. This victory belongs to you just as much as it… pic.twitter.com/OtJkj7jpmn

Besides the grand trophy, The MongolZ took home a hefty $500,000 prize. This money was part of the total $1.25 million distributed among all the competing teams. Looking ahead, the next big event at this level is the BLAST Open London. It will feature three well-known teams: FURIA, Legacy, and MIBR.
