According to reports from Jijantes, FC Barcelona are at the center of intense negotiations as Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an offer for Frenkie de Jong. The proposal, worth around €60 million including variables, envisages a four-year contract for the talented Dutch player.
According to Gerard Romero, Tottenham would be willing to match De Jong’s salary to what he receives at Barcelona as long as he achieves certain specific goals. However, the Dutchman has a contract valid until 2026 and is the highest-paid in the squad at more than 30 million euros due to previous agreements with the former club president.
FC Barcelona have set the Dutchman’s asking price at 100 million euros, so Tottenham’s offer doesn’t seem to be enough.
Tottenham want Frenkie de Jong
Despite Tottenham’s offer, Barcelona appear to have no interest in letting De Jong escape at the moment. The club’s sports management intends to offer him a contract extension, but on the condition that his salary is adjusted to the club’s new economic reality. There is speculation that the new agreement could reach 15 million euros per season, a figure more in line with the current financial situation.
On the other hand, FC Barcelona have set the Dutchman’s asking price at 100 million euros, so Tottenham’s offer is apparently not enough.

For his part, De Jong has not yet publicly commented on his future at the club, but according to TV3, the player would be unhappy with Barcelona’s current situation and would be willing to consider a change of scenery if he could join a team with the aim of becoming the champions League to win.
