The Metros hire DJ Laster as a new reinforcement

With half of the regular series schedule fulfilled, with a 1-6 record and stuck in a five-game losing streak, the Santiago Metros begin this second phase with changes to their squad. Looking to turn the season around in the next seven games of the 2023 LNB Super League.

Luis Flores, General Manager, announced the hiring of Daniel “DJ” Laster, a power forward 6-6 tall, who will strengthen the offensive and defensive aspect of the team, to give greater flexibility in attack. He will be on the roster starting tonight.

Laster played 4 seasons (2015-16 to 2018-19) at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, in 114 games he averaged 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 52.2% from the field in 21.4 minutes of action.

Between 2022-23 he participated in the Belgian/Dutch and Mexico tournaments, in 36 games he averaged 14.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game.

He had experience with Club Los Prados in TBS District 2021, averaging 20.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks in 6 regular series games. He was the leader in field percentage with 56% (90-50) and fifth best scorer in the tournament.

DJ. Laster will take the roster spot from Michael Qualls, who in three games finished with 18.7 points and 5.7 rebounds. He shot 82% from the free throw line.
