The Meaztegi Golf de La Arboleda is getting ready for the II Bizkaia Open

The facilities of the Meaztegi Golf, in La Arboleda, are being subjected these days to “tuning up” for the celebration of the II Bizkaia PGAe Open from June 20 to 25, a tournament of the Association of Golf Professionals of Spain (PGAe). As reported by the competition’s promoters, “a series of special actions” have been added to the maintenance work on the course, such as “scarification of the greens, punctured holes and topdressing”, so that they “reach the necessary consistency and firmness ”.

In addition, to the 12.7 hectares that make up the fairways of the field “the mattress of organic matter is being reduced by means of double scarification” and a contribution “of 800 tons of siliceous topdressing” in order to create “a surface that is as homogeneous as possible possible”.

Work has also been done on the irrigation system to “optimize water resources and guarantee sustainability” of this publicly owned field, inaugurated in 2005 and designed by Severiano Ballesteros.
