The Nuevos Ministerios station of the Madrid Metro has witnessed a fun exhibition between the players of the Spanish rugby team and the users on the occasion of the second edition of ‘The Match’, the match between Spain and Argentina at the Cívitas Metropolitano stadium on August 26.
100 days after a new party for Spanish rugby, the players Pepe Borraz, Andy Petros, Santiago Ortega, Alejandro Pérez, Telmo Jáuregui, Álvaro Gassot and Quique Bolinches they have offered their best game to the surprise of the users with whom they have rallied on the turnstiles, platforms and stairs, in addition to offering a spectacular scrum in the lobby of one of the main stations of the Metro network, to bring rugby to everyone the corners of the city.
Our Lions have been received by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid, David Pérez and Carlos Díaz Pache, Vice-counselor of this area; the CEO of Metro de Madrid, Silvia Roldán; and the Deputy Minister of Sports of the Community of Madrid, Alberto Tomé.
At the end, David Pérez, Minister of Transport and Infrastructures, highlighted that “Humility, respect and commitment to rugby are values that the people of Madrid also share, which is why Metro will be by the side of the sport, of all the players, of the fans, to accompany them all”.
It has been an exhibition of his talent, in order to get the support of the people of Madrid in the main event of the Centenary of the Spanish Rugby Federationin which he was accompanied by Juan Carlos Martín, its president, and Mirella Ruiz, CEO of Kiwihouse, the promoter of the event.
The President of the Spanish Rugby Federation, Juan Carlos Martín, has pointed out that “rugby is the sleeping giant that we will see explode”. And he wanted to have a gesture with the players who have energized the activity: “These guys are the future”, he stated after recalling that “the match on August 26 is an unbeatable event” which he has encouraged to go by Metro to “accompany the FER in the celebration of 100 years of rugby in Spain ”.
The player Enrique Bolinches has considered that “the match of 26 as a unique opportunity” and has encouraged fans who come to the Metropolitan to “use the best transport in the world, that of Madrid”. Finally, Mirella Ruiz, CEO of Kiwi House, organizer of the match, thanked Metro and the authorities present for their welcome and encouraged them to join the great rugby party of the match that will face Pumas and Leones: “We are waiting for you all ”.
The match between Argentina and the Spanish Rugby Team will be the official event of the Centenary of the Spanish Rugby Federation and, in addition, it will serve as preparation for Los Pumas, who will participate from September 8 to October 23 in the 2023 World Cup in France.
This great sporting event is a new edition of ‘The Match’, a proposal for the best rugby that premiered in Spain last year, also at the Metropolitano stadium, where the Spanish rugby team faced the Classic All Blacks in front of 40,000 spectators.
