The executive vice president of the Santo Domingo Economic and Social Development Council (CODESSD), Peter Read, highlighted the legal certainty and the good investment climate exhibited by the countryduring his speech at the Latin American Forum of Ideas, organized by the Latin American Presidential Mission in Paraguay.
By participating in a panel together with former presidents Sebastián Piñera of Chile and Luis Alberto Lacalle of Uruguay, Read highlighted the resilience that has characterized the Dominican economydespite the adverse international contexts to which it has been exposed, “which has not prevented us as a country from being a powerful driver of foreign investment.”
Opportunities
In the panel titled “The Economic Model of Latin America: A new social contract? Perspectives and Opportunities for investment and growth”, Read also spoke about the areas of opportunities that investors can find in the country, within which he cited renewable energies, sustainable tourism, agribusiness, advanced manufacturing, technology and digital services, among others.
Peter Read highlighted the great work carried out by the Latin American Presidential Mission and its vice president and executive director, Olinda Salguero, “promoting spaces for the generation and implementation of innovative ideaswhich bring the certainty to the entire region that with integration and common goals we can continue to overcome great challenges and move towards sustainable development, with equity and equality”.
Along with the executive vice president of the CODESSD were also Federico Sosa, director of the Directorate of Investments and Exports of Paraguay; Víctor Pavón, president of the Center for Social Studies and Jorge Srur, CAF’s South regional manager, moderated by Jorge Schreiner, economist and member of the Instituto Patria Soñada; Jorge Raúl Cruz, Vice President of the Esquipulas Foundation in Guatemala.
