Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us, shared his thoughts on the third episode of the show’s second season. He discussed how the TV series handled the storyline differently than the original game.
One key difference was how the show approached the aftermath of Joel’s death. In the game, the focus was on action, leaving little time to grieve. The show, however, took a different path. It spent nearly an entire episode exploring the characters’ emotional responses to Joel’s passing.
The Power of Different Storytelling
Druckmann noted that the TV format allowed for a more in-depth look at the characters’ emotions. The scene where Tommy sees Joel’s body was particularly impactful. He said it was a beautiful moment that showcased the characters’ real feelings.
The Last of Us Season 2 has been getting positive reviews from both fans and critics. The show’s storyline is similar to the game’s, but with some changes that make it feel fresh. The third episode is now available to stream on HBO MAX.
Druckmann’s comments were shared in a video titled Inside Episode 3.
