The Kremlin is threatening London with arms production in Ukraine

The Kremlin on Friday warned Britain against the production of weapons on the territory of Ukraine after Kiev announced it Opening of the British company BAE Systems in the country.

“The establishment of weapons production facilities on the territory of Ukraine will not contribute to the de-escalation or resolution of the conflict,” Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in his daily press conference.

Peskov warned that every factory automatically produces weapons “an object of special attention of the Russian military.” At the same time, he assured that the decision of the British company would not affect the development of the war.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyyannounced this Thursday after a meeting in Kiev with the head of BAE Systems, Charles Woodburn, that the British armaments group had opened an office in Ukraine to produce artillery systems and armored vehicles there.

“The best weapons that will help our soldiers defend Ukraine must be made in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said in a message published on Telegram, in which he did not give a specific timeframe for BAE Systems to start production in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Presidency announced on May 30 that it is working with BAE Systems to open a corporate office in Ukraine. The statement added that “later” centers for the “repair and production” of the company’s equipment would be opened in Ukraine.
