The Kremlin dismisses the reaction to the missile in Poland as “hysterical”; insists was released by Ukraine

Russia today described "hysterical" the reaction of Poland and other countries to the missile incident that this Tuesday killed two people in Polish territory, and insisted that the rocket, identified in Moscow as an S-300 anti-aircraft projectile, was launched by Ukraine.

"It makes sense to highlight the restrained and more professional reaction of the United States and its president (Joe Biden)"which contrasted with the "absolutely hysterical from Poland and a host of other countries"Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said in his daily telephone briefing.

The US president stated that it is "unlikely" that the missile that hit Poland would have been fired from Russia and announced that the G7 and NATO will support the investigation of the Polish government into the incident before giving "more steps".

Peskov stressed that "the Poles had all possible means to immediately report that it was the remnant of an S-300 rocket, and therefore all the specialists would have immediately understood that it could not be a missile related to the Russian Armed Forces.

He was alluding to the fact that the S-300s are anti-aircraft missiles, and although they are Russian-made, they are also used by Ukraine.

"Surely the Polish authorities will have to be asked to be more measured, balanced and professional when they talk about such sensitive and dangerous topics"the spokesman said.

Peskov also denounced that the incident with the missile has caused a "unwarranted Russophobic reaction".
