The Junior and the Country Club meet again in the final

El Junior y el Club de Campo se vuelven a citar en la final

The Junior, current champion of the Iberdrola Queen’s Cup, and the Country Club will face each other this Sunday (11.00 am) for the second consecutive year in the final of the tournament, after eliminating this Saturday in the semifinals Egara (1-2) and Taburiente (2-1) respectively.

The Madrid team, current champion and leader of the Iberdrola League, will try to take revenge against the Catalan team, which in the last edition played in Valencia won the final (2-1), thus ending the hegemony of the capital group, which had raised the cup in the five previous tournaments.

In the first match of the day, Junior achieved qualification in a highly contested match. Mariona Serrahima advanced to those of Sant Cugat in the last action of a first quarter marked by the success of the two goalkeepers, Mariona Girabent and Carlota Bonastre. The goal boosted the current cup champion, clear dominator of the second quarter against an Egara who defended with trade and went to rest with the minimum disadvantage thanks to the interventions of Bonastre under the sticks.

Junior’s offense found a prize in the third quarter, when Laia Vidosa scored the 0-2, but then Marta Grau cut the gap (1-2). From then on, the score was not altered despite the intensity and the alternatives in the game.

In the second semifinal, the Country Club came back against Taburiente to win by the same result (2-1). Supported by the stops of Cintia Santana, the Canarian team went ahead in the middle of the second quarter in a stroke by Agustina Gorzelany after a first quarter of more physical waste than clear chances of scoring.

Begoña García led with two goals the reaction of the Country Club after the break. He equaled the duel in a caste action, after throwing himself to the ground to steal the ball, and initialed the comeback culminating in a quick combination of Candela Mejías and Beatriz Pérez for the band. With the scoreboard in favor and control of possession, the Madrid team was even able to extend their advantage. The Junior and the Country Club will compete in the final of the Iberdrola King’s Cup this Sunday at 11.00 am at the facilities of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. Egara and Taburiente will meet at 9.00 am in the match for third place.
