The Israeli army killed five Palestinians

Israel’s armed forces killed five Palestinians late Sunday during a raid on the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp near the tourist resort of Jericho in the occupied West Bank, where an armed attack on Jewish settlers was reported a few days ago. “Israel killed five Palestinians,” confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) between the ages of 21 and 28. An Israeli security official reported that among them there would be “two Hamas terrorists who tried to carry out an attack.”
This agent declined to comment on the whereabouts of the bodies, but a Palestinian spokesman assured that they are being held by the Israeli authorities. Both Israelis and Palestinians have used the remains of people killed in clashes or attacks as bargaining chips throughout the conflict.
The Islamist Hamas movement, which has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007, claimed that the five Palestinians killed were part of the Al Qassam Brigades, its military wing. According to Palestinian authorities, the Israeli raid “left dozens of people injured.”
The Israeli army said its raid near Jericho was aimed at arresting the “terror group” that carried out a shooting attack on January 28 at a restaurant in a Jewish settlement, leaving no victims.
According to the Israeli authorities, two armed men went to the restaurant that housed 30 civilians “in order to carry out a deadly attack”, but due to “a misfire in a firearm, the terrorists fled towards the city of Jericho; it was discovered that the suspects were entrenched in a residence in the Aqabat Jabr camp with the help of relatives and locals,” said an army spokesman, adding that during the raid several armed militiamen fired at the soldiers. No injuries are reported among the Israeli troops. The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said that “the (Israeli) occupation forces prevented medical teams from carrying out their work and an ambulance was attacked” during the raid.
