The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's double attack in the Iranian city Kerman during the commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the general's death Qassem Soleimanikilled on January 3, 2020 in a US bombing in Iraq.
More than 80 people died in this attack, which were initially attributed to remote-controlled bombs but were actually the work of suicide bombers, according to sources at the official IRNA news agency. This was determined by investigators in at least one of the explosions after watching cameras in the area.
The Iranian authorities have promised a forceful reaction against those responsible and the Islamic State claimed responsibility in a statement released Thursday through its propaganda channels and collected by the jihadist information monitoring portal SITE.
