The Iranian people took to the streets against the government

As the water crisis intensified in Iran’s western province, protesters took to the streets, chanting anti-government slogans over the province’s supply of water to other areas.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, the oil-rich southwestern regions of Iran have been facing a severe water crisis for the past several days as Iran is facing the worst drought in the last 50 years.

Protests continue in Iran’s western province of Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari, where citizens can be seen marching towards the governor’s house.

During the march, Iranians chanted “It is forbidden to supply water from Chahar Mahal to other areas.”

According to media reports, due to severe shortage of water in the country, the government has started a plan to supply water from the water-rich provinces to other areas, on which the people are expressing their grief and anger.

It may be recalled that two days ago, citizens in the Iranian province of Isfahan also protested against the drying up of the river and the severity of the water crisis.

Last week, hundreds of farmers rallied against the drying up of Ziadnia’s land, which has been suffering from water shortages since 2000.

Foreign media reported that earlier this month, President Ibrahim Raisi promised to resolve the water issue and said a committee would be set up to rehabilitate the river.
