Also according to Ming-Chi Kuo, this is Apple’s strategy to generate profits and remain the market leader. “One of the reasons that Apple can apply this product segmentation strategy is that, although hardware innovation is more challenging and the market has matured, the Android universe does not yet represent a threat to Apple in the premium market due to the value brand,” he explains.
Apple wants to anticipate Android advances
In other words, with this strategy, Apple intends to anticipate the advances of Android, in the premium segment, that folding smartphones can bring. Especially since the Cupertino company is still far from launching its own folding model.
