Except for the trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Rituraj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer, all the Indian team players started practicing at the stadium on Thursday after their RT-PCR reports came back negative. The ODI series between India and West Indies will be played from February 6 at this stadium in Ahmedabad.

Regarding the practice session of the India team, an experienced official said, “Today’s session was a light practice where there were coaches along with the players.”

It is known that goalkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan has also been included in the ODI team, who is a specialist starter. On Wednesday, three leading players of the Indian cricket team, senior starter Dhawan, reserve starter Gaikwad and middle-order batsman Iyer, tested positive for Kovid-19 conducted during mandatory quarantine before the start of the West Indies series.

Four other people have also tested positive for Kovid-19, including bowler Navdeep Saini. Saini is also included in the waiting list. The other three members who have tested positive for Kovid-19 are field coach T Dileep, security liaison officer B Lokesh and massage therapist Rajiv Kumar.

The Indian team met in Ahmedabad on January 31 for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies. The series will start from February 6 in Ahmedabad. This will be India’s 1,000th ODI match. But now it is certain that the trio of Dhawan, Rituraj and Iyer will not be able to play in the series as they will have to quarantine for a week and then test negative twice by RT-PCR.
