The leading teams of the amateur peloton with riders under 26 years of age have already confirmed their presence in the II Tour of Toledo Imperial, which will take place from August 3 to 6. They repeat two teams that are usually the previous step to the professionals. On the one hand, Eolo Kometa, a subsidiary of the Continental Pro group with the same name and which in 2022 already won the first edition with Marcel Camprubí (now a professional in Vincenzo Nibali’s Q36.5) and Caja Rural Alea, one of the most prolific academies in Spanish cycling.
They are accompanied by teams such as Zamora Enamora, a team that won the legendary Valenciaga Memorial in 2023, Arabay Vas Cyclingwhich has Pau Llaneras in its ranks, winner of the Escalona stage of the 2022 edition.
In total, 16 invitations have been distributed so far to teams from all the cardinal points of Spain. From Galicia (CC Rias Baixas or CC Vigués) to Murcia (Valverde Team) passing through Huesca or the Canary Islands, with the Tenerife Bike Point. This chapter is not closed yet and new sets will be announced in the coming days until the quota is filled. The only limitation is that they can field six riders under the age of 26, the future promises of cycling.
All of them will fight for the yellow jersey sponsored by the Provincial Council of Toledo, the institutional partner and great supporter of the Tour of Toledo Imperialwhich already made the first edition possible and which is being essential for the second edition to see the light.
One of the great novelties of the 2023 edition is that the II Tour of Toledo Imperial grows in competition days. From the three stages in 2022 it will go to four in 2023, including a team time trial. The mountains will return, with a stage through the Montes de Toledo with ascents to the Risco de las Paradas, the Lanchar and the now mythical Alto de los Baños del Robledillo, known as Alpe D’Huez de Cabañeros. LThe other two days will have ‘spicy’ but will not be announced until mid-June.
The II Tour of Toledo Imperial also has its ‘Gran Depart’. It will be in the Parque Comercial La Abadia in Toledo, where Saturday August 5 will be the starting point of the third stage.
Finally, indicate that all the leaders of the different classifications of the round will wear Pissei jerseys, the Italian brand that also dresses Tadej Pogačar’s Pro-Tour UAE Team Emirates.
