The II Engel & Völkers Trophy already sees several boats close to the final triumph in the Abra

The II Engel & Völkers Trophy, organized by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club, which this year is celebrating its 125th Anniversary, held three tests, with northeasterly winds from 8 to 15 knots, for the J80 monotypes ; and two for the Regatta and Cruise class boats on their third day, formidable to enjoy sailing. Before the final day on June 10, the leaders in this championship are Mandovi dalecandELA in the J80 class, Alpega in Regatta, Bacilón in Cruise I and Kohen in Cruise II.

The third day of this II Engel & Völkers Trophy allowed the committee to schedule several routes and the crews to enjoy the tests on a hot summer Saturday in the Abra. The J80 division boats completed three tours, one of them won by Ramón Zubiaga’s leader Mandovi DalencandELA, another by Manolo Rey-Baltar’s HibLab Escuela de Vela José Luis de Ugarte and the rest by José Azqueta’s Biobizz. Now, Mandovi DalencandELA has a point advantage over HibLab, the two boats that will compete for the victory. In the third place of the general of this class is the Hibrut.

For its part, after the Regatta class tests, Alfonso Churruca’s Alpega continues as the leader with 11 points, Mauricio Guibert’s Akelarre has 14 and Javier Onaindia’s Symphony has 16. A partial victory was for Akelarre and the other for Symphony on this third day.

José Miguel Franco’s Bacilón maintains its lead in Crucero I, now with 6 points, compared to 11 for Javier Trueba’s Nexus and 14 for Juanma Pereiro’s Kribi. Bacilón is the clear favorite for the final victory in this division. On his side, Juan Carlos Estefanía’s Kohen also demonstrated his hegemony once again in Crucero II with both victories. Unai Cilleruelo’s Irrintzi Lau is second, four points behind and Jairo López de Guevara’s Ramper is third, 8 points behind the great favourite. The next and last day of this II Engel & Völkers Trophy will be held on June 10.
