The guide to the European Games

With 29 competitive sports (plus seven exhibitions such as sumo, mountain running, chess, amputee soccer, traditional martial arts, orienteering, and car mountain races) and With 253 medal events, the third edition of the European Games in Poland will be a great amalgamation of different disciplines.

THESE ARE THE 29 SPORTS

Athletics. It brings together the three continental divisions and competes by country, although individual medalists receive their trophy. Spain goes with a selection of bells: Katir, Peleteiro, Ben… It does not give tickets or points for Paris 2024.

Badminton. Carolina Marín leads a selection of four players (two women and two men) in a sport that gives points for the Olympic ranking.

Basketball 3×3. Spain goes with both teams in search of adding points for the Olympic ranking of the Federation.

Volleyball Beach. Male and female tournament with Spanish presence in both.

Boxing. 44 nominal places (22 men and 22 women) for Paris 2024 are distributed directly with the maximum quota of one fighter per National Olympic Committee in each weight.

BMX Freestyle. European rank and two representatives: Pol Díaz and Teresa Fernández.

Breaking. The winner of each genre in Krakow will have a nominal direct ticket to Paris, the goal of Xak (Juan de la Torre) and Ana Ortega.

Climbing. Without Spaniards and without points for the Games.

Fencing. It will have a European team rank, which is why it will award points to the Olympic classification ranking of teams. There will also be individual, but will not distribute points.

Beach Soccer. Male and female tournament with Spanish presence in both.

Judo. It will be held in the modality of mixed teams in six categories: -73 kg, -90 and +90 in men; and -57, -70 and +70 in women. and it will double as a European team, so the participants will add points to the Olympic ranking.

Karate. It will not be an Olympic sport in Paris 2024 after being in Tokyo. Damián Quintero leads five karatecas (two of katas and three of kumite).

Kick boxing. With the idea of ​​entering the Olympic program in Los Angeles 2028, this contact sport will have three Spaniards in the event in Poland.

Mountain bike. With points for the ranking, Spain comes with a powerful team of six cyclists (4 men and 2 women) led by David Valero.

Muay thay. The one known as Thai boxing, which was at the 2017 World Games, will debut at the European Games in Krakow where it will have four Spaniards (three girls and one boy) in combat mode.

artistic swimming. The mixed test, the duet, will grant a direct place in Paris 2024 for the winner… despite the fact that in next year’s Games the competition will be by teams, which are also present in Krakow since it serves as the European Championship. Spain attends with 13 representatives.

Paddle. Debut in a contest related to Olympic committees. Spain has a promising selection of eight players (4 men and 4 women) with the intention of fighting for gold in all three categories.

Modern pentathlon. He will have the rank of European and will distribute 16 tickets to Paris 2024: 8 in the male category and 8 in the female category (with a maximum of one per gender and Olympic Committee). Spain attends with 5 athletes (3 men and 2 women).

Canoeing (white water). In the slalom, the European C1 and K1 champions in the men’s and women’s categories will receive a direct ticket to the Paris 2024 Games.

Canoeing (calm waters). The sprint does not give a quota of tickets or points, but there will be 16 medal events: seven in the men’s category, seven women’s and two mixed in pairs (K-2 and C-2, both 200 m).

Rugby 7. Leones and Leonas go with the firm purpose of fighting for the title, which gives a direct ticket to Paris. Second and third place give way to the final Olympic play-off tournament.

Ski jumps. In summer and on grass, it is one of the most picturesque sports in this championship, which will have two categories (normal and large trampoline). There will be no Spaniards.

trampoline jumps. With a continental championship category, it offers four direct tickets to Paris, one for the winner of the 3m springboard (female and male) and the 10m platform (female and male). Spain has seven jumpers (four men and three women).

Taekwondo. A powerful Spanish team made up of sixteen athletes led by Adriana Cerezo, Joan Jorquera, Jon Cintado, Adrián Vicente, Daniel Quesada, Jone Magdaleno and Iván García are on the hunt for important points for the Olympic ranking.

Table tennis. Two Spanish couples (Álvaro Robles and María Xiao, and Carlos Caballero and Sofía Zhang) come to try to win the mixed doubles that grants direct qualification for the Games.

Teqball. With a very close future to being able to be Olympic in future editions, the mix of football and table tennis, which revolutionized social networks six years ago and has played two World Cups, will be at the Krakow event without Spaniards.

Archery. It will distribute seven direct tickets to Paris 2024 in the recurve mode. In the male and female category, the places will go to the National Olympic Committee of the three best ranked athletes (maximum one per NOC); and in mixed, for the NOC of the winning team. And always excepting France, which is already classified as an Olympic host.

Olympic shot. Direct qualification for the 2024 Paris Games, one for each champion (both in the male and female categories) of the 10-meter air rifle, 50-meter 3-position rifle, pit, and skeet. In addition to the winner of the air pistol at 10 meters, and the winner of the pistol at 25 meters.

Triathlon. The three Olympic modalities will be held (male, female and mixed) and in all of them points will be awarded for the Olympic ranking.
