The commander of a Russian submarine was shot dead by a gunman early this morning.
A Russian submarine commander and deputy chief in charge of troop movements have been shot dead in the southern city of Krasnodar, Russia’s state news agency TASS reported, citing law enforcement agencies.
According to the agency, official Stanislav Rzhitsky was killed by a gunman on Monday morning while he was on a morning walk. A criminal case has been initiated for the murder.

The slain official was also the commander of a Russian Black Sea Fleet submarine that local Ukrainian online news outlets claimed was responsible for firing Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukrainian targets.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Krasnodar is a diesel-electric submarine designed for the Black Sea Fleet. "”Designed for combating surface ships and submarines, laying mines and reconnaissance”.
