The Giro d’Italia presents its six trap stages for 2022

The Giro d’Italia continues to reveal part of its route for the next edition with its original presentation in stages. After confirming the great start in Budapest and unveiling the stages for the sprinters, this Tuesday it was time to meet the six mid-mountain stages, ideal for cyclists seeking victory through escape or for possible ambushes by a team.

The first great half-mountain day will take place on a route of 198 kilometers between Diamante and Potenza with the climbs to Passo Colla, Monte Sirini, Monte Scuro and La Sellata. The next occasion for the puncheurs will take place on a day of 149 kilometers with departure and arrival in Naples with numerous heights and several ascents to Monte di Procida within a circuit organized by the race.

Another ideal day for ambushes will take place on a day of 194 kilometers between Pescara and Jesi with the climbs to the Crocette di Montecosaro, Recanati and Monsano, the latter a few kilometers from the finish line of Jesi, in a day in which the late Michele Scarponi will be honored with the passage of the race through Filottrano. More demanding is the new occasion for leaks on a route of 186 kilometers between Parma and Genoa in which cyclists will climb the Passo del Bocco and the Ruta – Chiesa Vecchia before the ascent to Monte Becco and his subsequent descent to the finish line in Genoa.

The cyclists will have another demanding day in the stage of 153 kilometers that will start from Santena and end in Turin, in which they will have to make several laps of a circuit with three climbs to Colle della Maddalena and two steps through Bric del Duca before the finish line in Turin. The last half-mountain day of the Giro will be held on a route of 178 kilometers between Marano Lagunare and the final climb to Santuario di Castelmonte after passing two other demanding climbs such as Passo di Tanamea and Kolovrat, the latter in the passage of the race on the roads of Slovenia, a nod to encourage Primoz Roglic and Tadej Pogacar to take the start in the Corsa Rosa of 2022.

This Wednesday will arrive one of the highlights of the presentation of the Giro with the revelation of the great mountain stages of this edition before confirming on Thursday which city will host the arrival and podium of the Giro d’Italia 2022. The pieces of the Giro route are beginning to fit together.
