Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip woo buyers in South Korea
Asked by the Korea Herald, market analysts estimate that the number of pre-orders should reach 600,000 in the coming days. By counting the units that are not linked to an operator, pre-orders would reach 800,000 before going out to stores.
It is a huge success. Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 had indeed been pre-ordered by 80,000 buyers in South Korea. Ultimately, the new foldable smartphones have generated twice as many pre-orders Galaxy S21s in the company’s home country, sources close to the industry point out. “With the demand for new smartphone models increasing (in the local market), Samsung’s range of discounted foldable phones will quickly gain the same popularity of the Galaxy Note series”, argues an industry official. As expected, the foldables are thought to replace the phablets of the Galaxy Note range.
According to a South Korean operator, 49% of pre-orders for a Galaxy Z Fold 3 were made by customers between the ages of 20 and 30. As for the Z Flip 3, this rate rises to 57%. Foldable phones are less popular after consumers aged 40 to 50. 42% of buyers of a Z Fold 3 are in their forties, compared to 39% for the Z Flip 3.
