The Four Ecologies – Leonardo Boff

Leonardo Boff is a Brazilian theologian, philosopher and writer known for his active support of the rights of the poor and marginalized. He is one of the greatest global leaders of the environmental movement. He was involved in the creation of the “Earth Charter” and won the Right Livelihood Award, the alternative Nobel Prize. Leonardo Boff distinguishes four ecologies: ecological, social, mental and integral.

Environmental Ecology Leonardo Boff

This first aspect concerns the environment, so that it is not unduly distorted, the quality of life and the preservation of endangered species. See nature outside of people and society. Look for new, less environmentally harmful technologies and favor technical solutions. This position is important because it aims to correct the excesses of the greed of the global industrial project, which always entails high ecological costs.
