The former Pakistani player said: “It seems that Virat will also be out of the Asian Cup”

Former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria called Virat Kohli’s absence from the Indian team selected for the Zimbabwe tour as incorrect. He believes that Virat should have been included in the team on this tour so that he could regain lost momentum. Kaneria also said that Virat may also be left out of India’s selected squad for the Asian Cup.

Kaneria says on his YouTube channel: ‘Virat Kohli should have played in the series against Zimbabwe. Recently, when he’s rested for the entire West Indies tour, he definitely should have been chosen for the Zimbabwe tour. Here he had a good chance to regain lost form in the 50+ format, after which he could contest the Asian Cup. Now it looks like he too may be left out of the Asian Cup squad.

Kaneria also said that if BCCI wants to include him only in big tournaments, it will be unfair to Virat as he will definitely fail if he participates in big matches without getting back into shape and then due to poor form.

After the five-match T20 series against the West Indies, the Indian team will tour Zimbabwe. Three ODIs will be played in Harare from August 18-22. The India team has been announced for this tour. Along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah have also been rested for this series.

Shikhar Dhawan (capt), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (week), Sanju Samson (week), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Pranand Krishna, Mohammad Siraj and Deepak Chahar.
