England captain and currently the best all-rounder Ben Stokes has failed to achieve anything great in the Test series against India. In the first two games of this five-match series, India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah has caused Ben Stokes major problems. Bumrah beat Stokes in both Test matches. Now the former England captain has explained why Stokes keeps failing in front of Bumrah.
Former England captain Michael Atherton believes Ben Stokes is struggling to understand Jasprit Bumrah’s pace. Sky Cricket quoted Michael Atherton as saying: “His (Jasprit Bumrah) ball speed is difficult to understand and I saw that with Stokes, even though Stokes is a great fast bowler. However, they were hasty with Bumrah. He’s struggling to understand the pace, and when he (Bumrah) got it out, it looked like the ball was low, but he also overtook him in terms of pace.”
Jasprit Bumrah, who took 15 wickets in the first two Tests, took 6 wickets for 45 runs in the first innings of the second Test and the highlight of his bowling was bowling the Ollie Pope yorker ball. Atherton admitted there was little the batsman could do here. He said it was a brilliant yorker, wasn’t it? I don’t understand what the Pope could have done about it.
Ben Stokes said: “Jasprit Bumrah is one of those players where you put your hands up and say, ‘Wow, he’s just too good.” pic.twitter.com/5iNJTDG4Up

Ben Stokes is like every batsman who has tapped Jasprit Bumrah and wondered what the point of holding a bat is at all. A perfect ode to his 150th Test wicket #IndvEng pic.twitter.com/FPBzqCysaP
