The Flash: Confused, Michael Shannon looks back on his return to General Zod | Geek Lands

The movie trailer The Flash ofAndy Muschietti was recently unveiled by DC Movies with its share of surprises. Long in suspense because of the multiple escapades of Ezra Millerthe interpreter of Barry Allenthe film will arrive in our cinemas from June 14, 2023. The fans of DCin addition to likely witnessing the reboot of the universe, are going to have a front row seat for the introductions and returns of key franchise characters. Ben Affleck (Batman from the Snyderverse), Michael Keaton (1989 Batman), Sasha Calle (Supergirl) And Zod (Michael Shannon) will be present in the film, which will take place in a different dimension from the DCUs as we know it.

For the first time, DC Movies therefore introduces the multiverse, with the sole ambition of closing the entire narrative arc of Zack Snyder, torn between several choices and possibilities for the future. Indeed, after the fiasco of Justice League version whedon, Zack Snyder delivered its own vision for HBO Max, welcomed by all. A comeback that had convinced the ex-boss of DC Movies, Walter Hamadato resuscitate the Snyderverse through black adam which crashed violently at the box office. After this new disappointment, the guideline of the new bosses seems clear: Closing the universe thanks to The Flash, Bluebeetle And Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom before heading off to new paths.

One of the faces already known from the film, Michael Shannonbenefited from an interview with Looper to return at length to his return as General Zod and, the least that can be said, is that the 48-year-old actor was very disconcerted by these multiverse stories, arguing that he had found himself ” confused by the true nature of his return, by the fault of all these alternate dimensions.

“I was a bit confused. If I remember correctly, I think I died in Man of Steel. Are they sure they have the right guy? But then they walked me through the whole multiverse phenomenon, and… I was a little behind on that. I can’t say that I’m a big consumer of these kinds of films.

Going into a bit more detail, Shannon explained that he offered a new interpretation of his villain, on a completely different lineage than in man of steel, without saying more. Anyway, Zod is considered by many to be the most charismatic villain of the ex-universe Snyder.

“I tried to put myself back in his shoes. He’s a little different in this movie. He’s a little more… I don’t know how to put it. You don’t spend as much time with him, so you don’t really know as much about what he’s thinking. It’s not necessarily his film. That’s the thing with these multiverse movies — you get a little of this and a little of that. But it really is Ezra’s movie [Miller]. »

If we can however be sure of one thing, it is that given the in-depth reorganization to come from the extended universe DC Moviesit will be the last time that we will witness the return of Michael Shannon inasmuch as Zod At the movie theater (before a next rereading of the character?).
