The first electric car that combines Android and the Qualcomm ARM processor has arrived

is named Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric, and was officially unveiled by Renault on Monday. This is the first electric car to combine Android Automotive with a Qualcomm ARM processor.

We need to go back to 2018, when the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group announced that they would natively adopt the operating system in their cars. The date set for this to start was 2021, and Renault did not disappoint.

This means that the vehicle has the Google virtual assistant, but also services such as Google Play Store or Google Maps in its infotainment system. All of this can be accessed on two screens that together add up to 24 ”inches.

The main screen is the typical “tablet” that we see in these vehicles and has 12 “inches with a resolution of 1250 by 1562 pixels. In this you can access your favorite applications. The second 12.3-inch display with a 1920 by 720 resolution is a touchscreen instrument panel that sits behind the wheel.

As you can see from the posted images, the navigation has five main icons for navigation, music, calls, profile change, and car settings. Renault claims to use “the latest generation of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor.”

Recall that the Polestar 2 (from Volvo’s electric brand) was the first car with Android Automotive. This model and others with the platform use an Intel processor, and this new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is the rookie within Qualcomm. Portugal arrives in early 2022.
