The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) has requested proposals to build the country’s first manned lunar rover, which will be driven by two astronauts.

China will put its astronauts on the moon by 2030, and two astronauts will drive a lunar rover for scientific exploration during the mission, according to the announcement, cited by Xinhua.

The current mission design indicates that the crewed lunar rover will have functions such as crewed driving and driving, lunar surface movement, positioning support, and safety assistance, which can help astronauts in terms of movement, communication, exploration, etc. .

To gather high-quality resources from across society, explore a suitable business development mode and improve efficiency, CMSA is soliciting proposals from the public and will select the best teams to develop the rover prototype, it added.

Proposals must include demonstration of task requirements, overall schematic design, major key technologies, safety and reliability design, development process, schedule and quality assurances, a business model, and request for financing.
