The final bars leave the RedLynxes unrewarded

The RedLynxes debuted in the European Championship with a 3-0 (25-23 / 26-24 / 25-22) loss to the Netherlands. A result that did not reflect equality in the development of the game and resolved in the final bars of each set by small details, and in which the national team deserved more luck. Spain could not secure the first set when it had two rental points in the final stretch, while in the second set it would equal 24 but could not specify the reaction. In the third set, in a repetition of the script shown in the two previous sets, the Netherlands sealed the victory on the fast track in a final set where errors and the Dutch serve defined the outcome. The team led by Ricardo Maldonado will be measured this Friday, September 3, against Turkey at 4:00 p.m. in the second clash of group C of #EurovolleyM.

The RedLynxes kept their balance in the opening bars. Nimir Abdel Aziz gave the Netherlands the first lead with two almost consecutive good attacks that led Ricardo Maldonado to request the first of his time-outs with 10-6 on the scoreboard at the Hakamutsa Arena in Tampere. The arrival of Jordí Ramón on the serve contributed to the difference being wiped away and with an ace from Andrés Villena, Spain would take the lead 14-15. The RedLynxes reached the final stretch with a minimal income that could not be achieved. Roberto Piazza’s block turned 20-22 for the final 25-23 that gave the first set to the Dutch team.

Spain wanted to maintain their good service in the first set and with the work of Jordi Ramón, Borja Ruiz and Andrés Villena they achieved a few points of advantage that would remain until the half of the set.. Roberto Piazza’s pupils increased the intensity of their actions with the leadership of Nimir Abdel-Aziz to equalize 15 and control the score since then. A shot outside the RedLynxes took the Dutch ahead into the defining zone (20-18). Spain would save two set balls to equalize 24, at which point Andringa’s serve would appear to leave the national work unrewarded.

The Netherlands took advantage of the moment of Hispanic disappointment after the outcome of the previous quarter to get the first two points of the set. Spain would recover the good game of the first two sets to level the score, although again a couple of errors would weigh down again the performance on the scoreboard of Ricardo Maldonado’s team. The distance would remain around three points for the rest of the set, with Spain multiplying in defense with a great job from Daniel Ruiz and Jordi Ramón and with Andrés Villena’s serve he would be able to recover on the scoreboard. Spain did not want to see how history repeated itself, leaving the work done without reward, as in the two previous periods, but the script would be repeated. Two outside attacks launched the Dutch, who with a direct point from Abdel-Aziz, the match’s top scorer with 19 points, sealed their first victory in the European Championship.
