The FER 2023 Project aims at the Paris Games

The scholarship program for athletes of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation lived the coming-out of the 2023 edition in the usual setting of l’Alquería del Basket, in which they will have 145 Valencian athletes with scholarships who will seek to qualify for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in their different modalities.

Under the motto ‘Visca la resistència’, The new FER team of the Foundation chaired by Juan Roig will be made up of 145 athletes (75 men and 70 women) from 28 different sports modalities, divided into the following categories: Elite (40), Promises (40) and Nursery (65). Among them, the beach volleyball player Pablo Herrera, who at the age of 40 is fighting to become the first player in the history of his sport to play six Olympic Games.

The massive event was attended by Alexander WhitePresident of the Spanish Olympic Committee, and Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee. Both highlighted the good health of Spanish sport, “Every weekend the level of Spanish sport is ratified in all specialties”, reaffirmed Blancoand valued the work carried out by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, from the FER project and its commendable work of projecting Valencian sport.

Thus, different presidents of Spanish federations, such as Raul Chapado (athletics), Francisco Blazquez (handball), Jesus Carballo (gymnastics) and Jose Luis Lopez Cerrón (cycling), met at the event together with the delegations of Valencia Basketball, villarreal and I raisedrepresented in the figures of their maximum exponents, as Enric Carbonell, Fernando Roig and Quico Catalan. Also, of course, the different presidents of the Valencian sports federations and representatives of the media, including the director of AS Vincent Jimenez and the Delegate of Prisa in the Valencian Community Bernardo Guzman.

was also present Carlos Bullhistoric sports journalist and composer of the song ‘Resistiré’, turned into an anthem for the 2023 edition of the FER Project, being the common thread of the promotional spot in a special edition as it is a pre-Olympic year.

The director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, Juan Miguel Gomezdelved into the three main axes of work: support for grassroots sports, clubs and modernization and the attraction of sporting events to be held in the Valencian Community. Highlighting among its projects the Marathon: “It was an extraordinary test, although we wanted the world record. I am sure that sooner rather than later we will get closer to that goal. We are the second fastest city in the world for boys and girls, behind Berlin and Chicago”.

The 27 million euros of tourist impact was a sample of what the Marathon means for the city of Valencia. “Among Trinidad Alfonso’s projects is the Marathon, which we are turning into one of the best in the world. Being the second event in the city, behind the Fallas, is a source of pride”, stated Juan Roig, who closed the event dedicating a few words of affection to his brother Fernando, thanking him “for everything you have done for Villarreal, Castellón, the Valencian Community and Spain”.
