The indie horror game “The Exit 8” has reached a huge milestone. Publisher PLAYISM and developer KOTAKE CREATE happily announced that the strange subway adventure has sold over two million units. This is a big win for the team behind the unique scare-fest.
The game first appeared on Steam in November 2023. It quickly gained a following before launching on other platforms. Its simple yet eerie premise has clearly resonated with players worldwide.
To add to the excitement, “The Exit 8” is also getting its own movie. PLAYISM created special, limited-edition game covers in Japan. These covers draw inspiration directly from the upcoming film version.

The movie version of “The Exit 8” is also set for release this year. Mongkol Cinema holds the licensing rights for its theatrical run. Fans can catch it in cinemas starting December 25th. This shows how popular game concepts can easily cross over into films.
『8番出口』ですが、映画公開よりほんの少し前に累計販売本数が200万本を突破しておりました。KOTAKE CREATE様おめでとうございます。
多くの方に愛され、また育てていただき、感謝いたします。やったね。 pic.twitter.com/ouzrgvoQBT— PLAYISM (@playismJP) August 29, 2025
