According to foreign media, after the severe energy crisis in the country, Bulgaria has temporarily lifted the ban on Russian fuel from the European Union.

Bulgaria’s national press service reported after a cabinet meeting that energy-starved Bulgaria would temporarily suspend the implementation of EU sanctions on Russian fuel and that Russian automotive fuel suppliers The companies will be exempted from the ban till the end of 2024 due to shortages in the country.

In this regard, Bulgaria has allowed the conclusion of new state agreements and framework agreements with automotive fuel suppliers from the Russian Federation after October 10, 2022.

According to reports, the special exception for Russian fuel has been introduced due to the need to ensure the normal operation of Bulgarian institutions and other factories requiring motor fuel and to protect the life, health and national security of Bulgarian citizens. Therefore, this ban has been postponed till December 31, 2024, which is likely to be enforced again after the completion of this period.

It should be noted that after Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, Europe and Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia, including restrictions on Russia’s financial intentions, Russian products, and Russian energy, including the ban on entry of Russian citizens into the country. Now, looking at the energy crisis in Europe, the European countries have been forced to end the sanctions imposed on Russia’s energy.
