The Eastern Stars will bring Colombian pitcher Reiver Sanmartin

Colombian pitcher Reimer Sanmartin will be one of the imported Stars players in the Dominican professional baseball tournament that will begin on October 27, announced the club’s general manager, Felix Peguero.

The 25-year-old Sanmartin is a left-handed pitcher who will come to the country after pitching this year in the United States at the AA, AAA and Major League levels, with the Cincinnati Reds organization.

In the majors he had two starts. He won both. He added 11.2 innings, with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks. He had a WHIP of 1.20. The opposition hit him .267.

In AA, he was also 2-0, in four games, three of them as a starter. His ERA was 0.50, with a WHIP of 0.72. The opposition hit him .133. He struck out 23 and walked 5 in 18 innings. He allowed 8 hits.

At AAA, his record was 8-2 in 21 games, 14 of which were as a starter. In 82.1 innings, he fanned 89 and gave up 23 free tickets. They hit him 80 incogibles. The opposition hit him .253. He had a WHIP of 1.25.

With Sanmartin, there are already seven pitchers announced as imported from the Stars. The others are: Evan MacLane, Andy Otero (Panamanian), Jake Kalish, Kutter Crawford and Steven Fuentes (Panamanian). All of these with the power to open parties and relieve as well. Plus relay specialist Matt Pobereyko.

The Stars also announced that they will import Panamanian catcher Christian Bethancourt.
