The Eagles surpass the Stars and cause a triple tie for second place

The Eagles beat the Stars yesterday with a score of 6-5 in the continuation of the Round Robin of the 2021-2022 autumn-winter baseball tournament in a match held at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in this city. 

With their victory, the Aguilas now cause a triple tie for second place, with the Estrells and Licey, all with a 2-3 record. The Blues fell 3-1 to the Gigantes del Cibao.

 The victory went to Luis Felipe Castillo (1-1), in relief role, while the reverse fell to Radhamés Liz (0-2). The save was credited by Michael Tonkin (1). 

In the top of the third inning, the Eagles took control of the game with four runs off Liz. With the bases loaded and no outs, Juan Lagares produced the first with a single between siore and third. Orlando Calixte then added the second with a sacrifice fly to left field and Derek Dietrich singled into center field for two more. 

At the end of that episode, the Stars discounted on the scoreboard with two laps per single to Yamaico’s left field against Van Meter. 

In the fifth, the Eagles returned to attack with another home run from Jimmy Paredes’ left field. 

In the bottom of the fifth, the homeowners added their third run of the game with Abraham Almonte’s sacrifice fly through the central forest and on foot and Robinson Canó runs from third base. 

At the end of the eighth, the Stars came close on the board by making their fourth round on Junior Lake’s sacrifice fly to right field.

In the ninth, the Eagles scored their sixth by a double through Ramón Torres’ center field against Rodney. In the bottom of that inning, the Paquidermos again approached the scoreboard with a fifth lap as a result of a hit by Domingo Leyba.
