The dream of going to Europe brought a message of death for 20 immigrants

Tripoli: Twenty migrants heading for Europe with a dream of a better future lost their lives in the desert.

The foreign news agency said the bodies were found by a truck driver in the desert, 120 kilometers from the border with the African country of Chad and 320 kilometers from the Libyan city of Kafra, which he reported to Libyan authorities.

Rescue officials say all were migrants who had arrived in Libya from Chad to go to Europe, but lost their way when the vehicle broke down and died due to a lack of water in the scorching heat.

Local rescue teams say the bodies were found near a black car that was parked in poor condition.

Ibrahim Balhassan, head of the Kufra Ambulance Service, told the media that the 20 had died at least 14 days before they were last contacted on a mobile phone on June 13, but had since strayed. Û”

He said two of the dead were from Libya, while all the others were from Chad.
