Kansas: A pet dog shot and killed its owner by ‘accident’ in the US state of Kansas.
A Kansas man died Saturday after his pet dog stepped on a rifle in a truck, according to foreign media reports.
The incident occurred in the city of Wichita, Kansas. 32-year-old Joseph Austin Smith was found dead in a truck in the morning. Police in the Sumner area of Wichita said after the incident that the man was going to his car with the intention of hunting and It was during this time that the incident happened.
According to the police, Joseph Smith was sitting in the front seat of the car and the hunting gun was lying on the seat next to him, when the dog came from the back seat to the front seat, his foot came over the trigger and the shot went off.
According to the police, Joseph died soon after being shot, it is learned that he worked as a plumber.
In a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office, it was said that further investigations are being conducted into the incident, but the evidence so far appears to be accidental.
The US Department of Health says that during 2021, more than 500 people died due to accidental gunshots.
